Scorpions - Still Loving You has become a classic heavy metal ballad. Scorpions are one of hard rocks longest running and most respected bands. This song is played in the key of G Minor and follows the G Natural Minor scale.

Notes:The Motley Crue / Mick Mars song Looks That Kill from the album Shout at the Devil. Was recorded in the key of G minor but actually played in the A minor position. This is because they tuned down a whole step to 420 so that A becomes G, E becomes D etc. This lesson uses audio examples recorded in standard 440 tuning. This is to keep things simple since the other lessons on this website also use standard 440 tuning. The songs main riff is simply A G and F# using a low A as a pedal tone.

The Motley Crue classic power ballad Home Sweet Home from the album Theatre of Pain is one of the most memorable of the 1980's. In my opinion Mick Mars is one of the best rock guitarist of the era. Although Mick wasn't as fast or polished as some of his competitors, his playing is solid and melodic, enhancing the songs instead of being distracting.

Notes: Randy Rhoads begins the main riff from Crazy Train in the key of F# minor using the Aeolian mode and ends up in A Major just before the vocals.

This lesson separates Randy Rhoads guitar parts in Diary of a Madman into small easy to understand chunks. From Randy's the classical guitar intro to the signature Rhoads style neo-classical guitar solo. This masterpiece from Randy Rhoads takes patience and discipline to master.
