  • Each scale mode starts with one of the seven notes from the C major scale
  • There are seven scale modes
  • Starting the major scale from a different note changes the sequence of musical intervals and therefore, the sound of the scale.
  • The modes are (in order of appearance)
    • C - Ionian
    • D - Dorian
    • E - Phrygian
    • F - Lydian
    • G - Mixolydian
    • A - Aeolian
    • B - Locrian
