… does your list of items includes “timing”? Timing is the skill of playing different kind of rhythms in a musical way, and it’s one of the most important skills that a musician can have

If this is in your list: congratulations! You know what matters and I hope you are studying your timing every day.

If on the other and this is not in your list: that’s great too! It means that until now you have probably not practiced your timing, which in turn means that there are some low-hanging fruits there that you can reach with just a little practice.

The problem with timing is that even if you understand it, it’s not always easy to “feel” it. We can stay here talking about it all day long and that would not make you any better at it.

The key to ‘feeling it’ is to practice a few choice exercises that target it directly. Here’s what you have to do:
