How long can you play your guitar before your hands hurt too much to continue? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? Or maybe your hand doesn’t hurt at all. If so, how is this accomplished?
Being both a musician and teacher for as long as I have, I’ve noticed how many guitarists mistreat their hands. The number is far too high. These guitarists are stretching their hands, and awkwardly trying to play chords in ways that they shouldn’t.
Sometimes this neglect comes from simply not knowing what the right way to play is. Lots of players feel the pain but just assume it will work itself out eventually.
Incorrect playing technique can put players at serious risk of carpal tunnel, tendonitis, or other harmful injuries.
No shame to you if you are one of these kind of players, as I was once a guitarist who played improperly too. This first hand experience taught me just how important it is to take care of yourself. In my video below I am going share with you ways that you can keep your hands strong and healthy when playing.
Taking care of your hands is a necessary thing if you are looking to have a lasting experience with playing guitar, so begin incorporating these techniques into your playing today! It will make a great difference.
